The mood is increasingly upbeat in South Africa regarding Rail Preservation. The dramatic drop in the scrap price from R1750 per ton down to below R1300 a ton over the past several weeks always helps and tends to deflect people’s attention away from the value of high quality steel as represented by steam locomotives, railway line etc.
