Sandstone’s Airfield, defined by its grass runway running alongside the railway line, has hosted some of South Africa’s finest examples of historic aircraft during heritage festivals over the years. These include aircraft such as the iconic Harvard, de Havilland Tiger Moths and Chipmunks, Boeing Stearman, and a SAAF Auster. This is made possible by a longstanding collaboration with the Classic Flying Collection based at Springs Airfield in Johannesburg who bring the history of the skies to life during Sandstone festivals.
