Not the most glamorous of categories, but significant at Sandstone nonetheless, we own and operate a range of earthmoving machinery, which includes the likes of our Best 60 dating back to the mid-1920’s, which pre-dates the existence of the Caterpillar Corporation which was created in 1925.
Contrary to popular belief, Caterpillar did not invent the Crawler tractor. They purchased examples from two companies, Best and Holt, and then incorporated the best features into their own product line. The Best 60 in our collection continued well into the 1930’s with Caterpillar branding and the now the familiar yellow colour. We are regularly able to demonstrate various items from the Caterpillar collection.
