Stationary Engines

Dating as far back as the 1800’s, little stationary engines with their significant putt putt sound carried the burden of many tasks in all walks of life – pumping water, driving mills, generating power… the list is long.

We have a very significant collection of over a 100 stationary engines spanning many makes and sizes all with bespoke design features, housed within the dedicated Stationary Engine Museum room. Our dedicated stationary engine volunteer group is always on hand during our events to operate them and to demonstrate to the public the significance of each machine and how they were put to work in years gone by.
