RN 271 – Sandstone visits Rovos Rail

12th October 2006
Senior executives and trustees of the Sandstone Heritage Trust recently paid a visit to Rovos Rail and met with the founder and owner of Rovos Rail, Rohan Vos. As luck would have it the Sandstone Heritage Trust’s GMAM, No. 4079, was in steam preparing to haul one of the trains to Cape Town.

The two organisations discussed a wide range of issues which include the possible supply of additional locomotives on loan to Rovos Rail to meet increasing demand for their prestige rail passenger services.

Last year the Sandstone Heritage Trust sold a Land Rover fire fighting unit to Rovos Rail. It is on standby duty 24-hours a day.
